Now I see why you got banned. What you did not realize is others were not rejoicing anything "AT YOUR EXPENSE". They were just enjoying what was available to them. You are the one who wants to make it a zero sum game i.e. gain for others is loss for you and vice versa.
While others were celebrating what was good for them, you want to rejoice others pain. That is just *sic*. I retract my earlier support for you.
Do I think that its unfair that people (I started my GC in May 04) from 06,07 will clog up queue, yes, but such is life. Can't do much about that can we? So enjoy whatever good is happening. Please remember, what goes around comes around. If you rejoice others unhappiness, you too will soon join them.
Quote from LogicLife's post
'And finally, if you do rejoice at the revisions of July bulletin because that would somehow do justice to you and your other BEC brothers, please rejoice privately, not publicly. Rejoice all you want, if that's what gives you happiness, but send PMs to your BEC friends or do it over the phone. Have a barbeque at your home. Have a conference call and celebrate. '
If all others can rejoice the open of visa filing at our expense publicly, why couldn't we rejoice something that'd bring fairness? Why don't they rejoince in private? You think they have us in mind? I call that BS.

..from any single state, afaik (perhaps with the exception of NJ, don't have the exact numbers - but in stark contrast to many other states... ).
Also note, the attendance at short notice for the SJ rally was phenomenal.
Let's just say Californians are more motivated and active then many from the DC area, and you can expect an even larger crowd the next time around, with better planning and more time imo.
jazz
Jaime, your thought of having one more rally in Silicon Valley is a good one but again you are going to have the same crowd..!!
People in neighbouring states of DC did not make it , you tthink they will make it all the way to west coast! very doubtful!!
We should aim at bringing in more people to this family as possible..
Looks like a simultaneous rally on a weekend will be very effective!
And this time for the rally we will carry one one slogan banners
'SHORTEN THE WAIT FOR LEGAL IMMIGRANTS' or something similar!
just a thought!

Sent 5 more letters to President and copies in one envelope to IV.
Guys this is great, we can all ask our friends and colleagues to sign letters and we can all secure them by paying for the stamps ourselves. I am not sure my husband knows I have shares in the post office now, but I think he would whole-heartedly support it, and he supports what I am doing!
Look at Digital2k's amazing number at the front of this thread, now that is inspiring!!! Come on folks, let's get crazy on this!!! :)

On the contrary Air India is one of the best airlines now and I fly air India all the time .
You might not find young women in tight skirts as the cabin crew but the service of the middle aged Air-India crew is very good.
They have spanking new 777's with wide seats and latest entertainment systems. Tickets are real cheap and round trip to India can be as low as $650 to $700 with taxes per person . When flights are empty I can streach on 3 seats and sleep . JFK to Mumbai nonstop is only 13 hours , sometimes done in 12 also , which is what I spend sometimes when I travel from NYC to LA . On the contrary if you go through Europe it takes like 26 hours and immigration and all the hassle in London/Frankfurt and unecessary waste of time .Air India meals are Indian and not sphagetti and pasta like the western airlines( not to hurt the sentiments of the pasta , spagetti lovers ).
The staff is generous and many times I have been offerred multiple meals on the airline when they see that a person my size ( 6' 1) has to survive on a small morsel like that . :D. Drinks when asked are served generously.
The staff is very good and polite and last but not the least , it is my national airline .
Off course the airline has been affected because of some mismanagement and I consider the Indian government to be responsible for the same not the airline staff , cabin crew and pilots .
Agreed 100% with you. I had traveled to India by British Airways, Cathay pacific, Gulf and Air India ( thrice ) and I can say the best service is from AI compared to all others. I had once traveled with BA with my 1 year old son and had some horrific experience with them. Again had to travel when he is 1 year 7 months old in Air India. Experience with AI was many times better compared to BA. Being all hostess are Indian they understand and take things personally to help you out of situation where as ALL other airlines go by rules and had no sympathy to its passenger problems.
AIR INDIA ROCKS.

I have a question in case any experts come back today to visit this thread.
Its reg the point system. We get points for employer sponsorship and number of years of US employment right?
1) If a person has been working here for 4 years on H1b in STEM decided to leave to canada this week. He then comes back lets say in 2008 or 2009 and then wants to apply for GC. Will he get points for the previous 4 years, even though there was a break in service (canadian trip) for 1-2 years?
I need to know this because I am contemplating moving to canada (my current employer has filed for LC, which I will then be nullifying). Ofcourse I intend to renter after 1 year or so.
2) My seccond question-- I am also planning to start a new GC before leaving to canada. Can GC application proceed while you are out of the country? If so until what stage?

The more I read this form, the more I become disgruntled with this community! To say that someone from a lower class of visa and not from an "Oversubscribed country" (and I am assuming you mean India) is less skilled and less deserving than someone from a higher class and oversubscribed country is ludicrous to say the least. Each and everyone of us (and I mean "legal immigrants") have our own skill sets and contribute equally to the American society. As long as we are competent at what we do, then we are all SKILLED in our own way. The only real defining difference among the visa classes is the level of education not skill. To suggest one is better based on education alone is arrogance and nothing else!
The U.S. immigration system is not without its flaws and despite the delays and frustrations, it is FAIR! The per country limit is to ensure that citizens of ALL nations have an equal opportunity to immigrate to the U.S. and not just a select few. The only thing that I have found unfair as far as immigration in this country is concerned is the politicians' focused efforts to do something for the "illegal" immigrants at the expense of the "legal" immigrants.
We are all in this together and the insults and innuendos that dominate this forum divide us so let's stop them and focus on the real issues!
sorry for your disgruntlement ...
It is USCIS that decides the categories and it is they who say that EB1 is more skilled and valuable than other categories
Again ... like I said in my post .... It is NOT NOT individual's qualifications or Country that matters, it is the JOB descr they do that decides the EB category. IF USCIS places more value on EB1 than EB2/EB3 category jobs that is not my problem .... but thats the way it is (doesnt mean that it is in anyway right)... and that was my point ..
The innuendos are being spread by people like yourself .... and reflects your own insecurities and frustrations.

More education generally does mean more skill. It does not always mean more pay, but this country has decided to use education and work experience as the criterion for EB category allocation.
You have put this in the best possible way. My allegiance to EB2 as I got my MS degree from US in Tech Major.

After reading the exchange of zoophilic and acrimonious emails this evening, it seemed like reading accounts of state assembly sessions back home. Well, we never miss a chance, do we? For a change, please read General Pace's testimony to the so called 'hearings' earlier today. Contrary to the visible and glaring episodes that stand out in our day today life being targetted upon as immigrants or wannabies, posmd's words are solemn and should encourage us not to lose hope: "If you notice, despite all the bad press about illegals, despite 9/11, the majority of americans are still pro legal immigrants, we are largely to credit for this, along with the pride they have in their forefathers who made the same journey". General Pace's testimony today is a sample supporting the above. Ghost, it was nice of you apologize for your 'list-rage'; hopefully, whatever be the intentions, ForeverGC will learn to see the spirit
that keeps us going, at least before he or she gets the green card ;-)

Here is how I made up my mind to go to the Rally. Most of us waited for an average of at least 3 years in my case, this is my 10th year waiting to get a Green Card after two failed attempts of starting the process and changing employers in 1999 and 2000 and counting. All of us really don't know how many more years do we need to wait and getting extensions every year, either for your visa or for your travel Parole, or your EAD. Most of us are tracking our receipts now, why, because we don't have a transparent system, did you get an LUD, Did you get a FP notice how come I did not get one, where is my application, did your application get to TSC, was it transferred to NSC, what did your lawyer tell you, why did my lawyer tell me this way.
Why are we all passionately managing and exchanging so much information, because we have no clue what is happening behind the scenes. All of us know there are a very few who will get a green card tomorrow, but for most of us, we keep tracking to see anything in the change of status. Feeling uncertain is not a good feeling, I felt it for the last 6 years. How long will an employer wait patiently for you, how long will your wife wait to see she can work, how long will your in-laws respect you when you said during marriage, oh she will be able to work very soon:), how long will you keep convincing yourself, everything will be fine if I just sit and do nothing?
THAT IS WHY I SHOWED UP, THE SENSE OF SATISFACTION IS IMMENSE TO STAND UP AND PETITION. TO MEET LIKE MINDED PEOPLE WHO HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT DOING NOTHING IS NOT AN OPTION!
But the feeling of "being uncertain" made me go. The excitement that I could meet so many many of you who work selflessly and volunteer so much of your time was priceless.
When we finally reached there, we saw moms, who had kids volunteering, sometimes we had babies, kids in the situation room helping mom organize things, we had people drive from far places, leaving kids in neighbors/baby sitters home and had to drive back late night for 2 3 hours to get back to them. We had people hit the bed at 4 am in the morning and show up the next day all suited up and ready to meet lawmakers at 7 am. That made our trip look so simple!
Guys we respect everyone's reasons, yes we do have lots of genuine reasons and it is not for me to judge personal reasons on how important they are. The point I am trying to make is purely this, think it through and see how you life was or will get affected by this process. Many of you filed your 485 and are instantly gratified that things are fine. I can't stress enough that this is not the case. When I got to file in June I was very excited, I used to see LUDs, FP, got EAD, Travel Parole and everything and then nothing happened. It stays there and from all the statistics, numbers and logic that we all apply, it will stay that way for years. If you think you are out of the woods, think again, all it did was from one stage of the clog, now we are clogged to the other stage of clog. If you think you are now easy to move around, change your jobs, think again. It is extremely complicated with no guarantees that the USCIS officer will interpret your job duties that same way!
Sometimes during discussions we all think, what is it that is stopping you all to come, sometimes after working so hard there does happen a feeling, what reason is big enough for them to not show up, when we did. So please don't get offended either way, we want all of you, we want everyones support and keeping egos asides, lets think how best can we speak in one Voice! Lets all be involved with IV activities, action items and work on it passionately. Remember each of your voice makes Immigration Voice stronger and be heard better!!!

How do you check the comments when someone REDs you? I've been looking around but haven't found the link.
Cool! More reds with these comments. Although you guys didn't make these comments openly, I would like to reply to you openly:
Red Comment No. 1: Learn to reply back with a cool head. Real, focused, communication in IV should be a marketing strategy for geting more donors...if that is not there...enjoy !
Neither am I IV's customer service, nor is IV core. All this guy needed to do was to search the forums and read through that thread that I pointed him to, and voila, he would have know what is IV's intention on the donor forum. He probably knew about it but just decided to throw some oil to the fire in this current thread. I agree with your reasoning on giving more focused replies but then that's what I'd keep doing all day because there are tons of folks roaming around here who have nothing better to do but criticize IV!
Red Comment No. 2: why the sarcasm, hes in the same boat as you
How is he in the same boat as me? I am on a boat called IV and I don't see him on that boat. You just wanted to give me a red dot but couldn't think of a solid reason, isn't it?

485_se_dukhi, thanks for U'r suggestion about meeting local lawmakers. Indeed that is exactly what ppl had done on Sep 17 - Sep 19. We just covered about 150 lawmakers thats just ~1/4 of the lawmakers. Everyone can do the lawmaker meets at their local office, it doesn't require lot of effort just a few phone calls and few hrs to spare. Atleast one person from U'r state chapter would have attended the lawmaker meeting, U should contact U'r state lead on this and proceed further. Also those people who already attended the lawmaker meets are coached on what (not) to say during such meets..
I am sorry to say that "undocumented ppl" have more sponsors in Washington than that for EB-based immigration ppl:D We can sit and whine on forum, unless we take our issues to the forefront (lawmakers and media) no one is going to bother us:p Thats reality:D
How about meeting all our local congressmen and lawmakers in the next few weeks??
Since one of our key issues is educating people about our plight, it would be good to meet some of our local senators/representatives and explain our side to them.
Many of them are equally clueless about the difference between green card backlogs and H1 B visa limits (my local rep for example), legal and illegal immigration etc.
So instead of holding a rally so close to this one, why not have a few more lobby days or meetings with our reps??
Incidentally I like the idea of sending doughnuts/pizzas to the media people specially CNN...:) for obscuring our rally and misrepresenting it as "Amnesty demands"...

What does it mean? Is there any favour for us?
Pleases clarify.
I have majored in Information Systems from New York, however, I am have a BS and not MS. I been for 6 years on H-1 by now. Does it qualify for any of the SKIL bill's previledges?

what about countering efforts to corner EB3 unused visas.
I appreciate the efforts of core IV and have held them in high esteem. As I said in my post, I read all the posts / replies that I am connected to with sincerity of purpose.
Yet, I don't see a response to set up this web fax. We need to write and counter this grab of unused visas.
Efforts are going on and they are going to get much more aggresive. Go through some of the posts
